For commissioners: a predictable fee, and outcomes you can see
If you work in commissioning or brokerage for adults with complex mental health needs, you will know how much of your week goes on additional hours: the requests, the evidence, the panels, the time-limited awards, the reviews, the repeat requests. It costs your team time. It costs providers time. And it builds delay into the very support that is most likely to make a placement succeed.
Bancroft Care Centre works differently. Our weekly fee already includes four hours of 1-2-1 support per person per day.
What that gives a placing authority
- A predictable cost from day one. The fee you agree is the fee you pay. There are no routine variations for individual support.
- No separate approval process for the baseline of one-to-one time. It starts on the day the person arrives.
- A clear baseline. Because four hours is standard, any request above it is the exception. It comes with a specific assessment of need, a plan to reduce it, and a review date.
- Hours tied to outcomes. The time is planned against goals in the person’s plan and reported on at review.
Hours are an input. Outcomes are the point
We plan each person’s 1-2-1 time with them, against outcomes they have chosen. The areas people most often work on are:
- Getting out: using shops, transport, leisure, education or a faith community
- Daily living: cooking, laundry, managing money and medication with less support
- Physical health: attending appointments and health checks, sleep, activity, diet
- Staying well: recognising early warning signs and using a plan that works for them
- Moving on: building the skills and confidence for a less supported setting
What you will see at review
At each review we show what the 1-2-1 time has been used for, the progress made against each outcome, what has not worked, and what we propose to change. Where a person is ready for less support, we say so. A placement that ends because someone has moved on to greater independence is the result we are working towards.
Questions we are often asked
Is the time shared? No. It is one-to-one with a named member of staff.
How do we know it is delivered? It is scheduled, recorded and available at review or on request.
Who do you accept referrals from? Local authorities, the NHS, private funders and insurers, from across England.
We are happy to take any commissioning, brokerage or contracts team through our fee structure and exactly what is included. To talk about a referral, arrange a visit or ask about our fee, contact Megan.tranter@ashahealthcare.co.uk
